Start by preparing your nails. Remove any old nail polish using a nail polish remover and then wash your hands to remove any residue. Trim and shape your nails if needed, and gently push back your cuticles. Apply a base coat to your nails to help the polish adhere better and protect your nails from staining. Once the base coat is dry, open the nail polish bottle and wipe off any excess polish from the brush on the rim of the bottle. Then, apply a thin layer of polish to your nails, starting from the base and working your way to the tip. Use long, even strokes and try to avoid getting polish on your skin or cuticles. If you make a mistake, you can clean it up with a small brush dipped in nail polish remover. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat for more intense color. Finish with a top coat to seal in the color and add shine to your nails. Let your nails dry completely before using your hands.
