Start by thoroughly wetting your hair with warm water. Squeeze a small amount of shampoo into the palm of your hand, about the size of a quarter for short hair or a bit more for longer hair. Rub your hands together to lather the shampoo. Apply the shampoo to your scalp, massaging it gently with your fingertips in circular motions. Focus on the roots and areas where oil and dirt accumulate. Once your scalp is thoroughly lathered, work the shampoo through the lengths of your hair, using your fingers to distribute it evenly. Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water until the shampoo is completely washed out. If necessary, repeat the shampooing process for a deeper cleanse. Follow up with conditioner if desired, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Rinse your hair with cool water to seal the cuticles and lock in moisture. Towel dry your hair gently and style as usual.
